Women have so many wardrobes in life and with each wardrobe comes a different emotion. Our work wardrobes make us feel smart, serious and professional. Our casual wardrobes make us feel fun, cosy and louche. Our going out wardrobe makes us feel flirty, happy and sexy. Each wardrobe style gives us a boost and for women, self-esteem and body confidence is often at a low. Without confidence, we have no social life – so let’s change that!
As we get older, our wardrobe styles change and that’s perfectly natural as we mature. The teenage version of us may have rocked crop tops and Daisy Dukes and with a figure the result of a fast metabolism and plenty of time to run, exercise and have fun, those items look great! As life moves on and the tops get longer, our clothes match who we label ourselves. Mums tend to have a ‘work’ wardrobe of jeans and a simple tee – purely because why waste a nice outfit on baby dribble?! As we move into a period of our lives of maturity we often wear scars on our bodies; stretchmarks from gaining or losing weight or even pregnancy, cellulite and moles. A crop top may not seem appropriate as you age so learn what works for you and makes you feel like you’re on top of the world. Getting back that body confidence we once wore like a shiny badge is not simple and while it’s easy to pay a visit to Dr Malcom – Plastic & Cosmetic Surgeon, it’s just as easy to gain some confidence by shaking up the wardrobe.
Ditch the drab tees and jeans and go for something sleeker. If you are used to lounging about in baggy boyfriend jeans, sharpen your look with ultra-skinnies and pumps. Team those skinnies with a gorgeous heel for a night out with friends. You may be too old for crop tops, but that doesn’t mean you can’t show off a knock out figure. Form fitting tops with a plunge neckline can show some skin and be classy all at the same time. If you’re heading out for work, swap a trouser suit for a skirt suit and wear nude stockings instead of black tights.
You need to ramp up your self-esteem and confidence and treating yourself like a clothes hanger for beautiful clothes is the way to do it. It doesn’t have to take much: a nipped blouse waist here and a detailed studded belt there can make an outfit pop. Rocking your body confidence just by shifting your wardrobe can work wonders. If you are all about accessories, maximise your features and enhance your colouring. Chunky bright knit scarves in the winter or sheer silky scarves in the summer, you have to wear what reflects you and makes you feel good. Round off an outfit with a beautiful handbag – you’ll need one for every occasion – and you’ll be set. Don’t keep your wardrobe stagnant; move with the times and enjoy your sartorial lease of life!
